Today, we can observe that human history has made use of about 40,000 to 1,00,000 species of plants and animals which are used as food, and also for making fibers, industrial products and even medicines. The biodiversity of plants and animals is large, and it is very interesting to know about this biodiversity. |
In fact, a high level of biodiversity is always desirable as both plants and animals directly or indirectly depend on each other for survival.
Today, we humans have become an important part of this biodiversity. We have, in fact, damaged several ecosystems and brought about a lot of disturbances in the natural biodiversity of plants and animals. We have been using animal and plant products for our own personal use without thinking about how much time the affected plants and animals will take to get their numbers back. Hence, we are almost neglecting the importance of biodiversity. We should become aware of their importance. Otherwise, it may become too late.
Today, there are many advanced systems that maintain a summary of the biodiversity in different regions. The data is frequently updated so that the scientists and researchers can know the position of biodiversity in different geographical regions. Efforts should be made to restore the balance between plants and animals before it is too late. And, therefore, it is important to spread awareness.
Actually, biodiversity refers to the diversity of plant and animal life in a particular habitat in which they are dependent on each other. If any link is broken, it can turn the whole chain upside down.
