All the attractive and loud fireworks are made up of various chemicals which produce various sound and light effects. |
It’s a myth that the uses of the chemicals in the fireworks were discovered accidentally by a Chinese man. The Chinese man, while disposing his kitchen waste, discovered the fireworks. The waste when thrown into a fire for disposal produces a loud sound and a visual effect. After some experiments and thoughts an explosive was discovered which is known as gunpowder. The gunpowder was used for developing rockets and weapons for the attacking enemies during the early years.
The gunpowder is made up of chemicals like sulphur, charcoal which is one of the forms of carbon and common saltpeter. The gunpowder was filled in bamboo pipes and was made into explosives. These explosives were both used destructively and for entertainment purposes during that period. The primitive methods of making fireworks thou not that attractive gave the birth for the use of chemicals for making fireworks.
The basic approach for making the fireworks is mostly same in the present age. Thou some innovative methods are introduced to make the fireworks, fireworks today are more attractive and produce loud sounds than before to attract more consumers. The gunpowder has the constituent like the potassium nitrate, sulphur and charcoal in varying amounts. The various other chemicals are introduced for making fireworks nowadays. Basically a firework mainly consists of reducing agent, oxidizing agents, some other agents for colors, regulators and binders in chemical terms.
The color produced by the fireworks would depend on the chemical used. There are specific chemicals which produces different colors. For instance the strontium salts are used to produce red color, whereas elements like aluminum, magnesium produce large amount of light needed for these fireworks. These chemical containing fireworks produce magnificent view when showcased into the sky.
