New Discoveries Of Chemistry

Some of the latest discoveries in the field of chemistry are given below:

In the year 2003, the first real organic compound was prepared by L.

Khryashtchev from Helsinki University using the noble gas. Small quantity of H-Kr-C C-H was produced by aiming ultraviolet (UV) light on acetylene which is represented by formula C2H2 (H-C C-H). The acetylene in this case was caught within a krypton matrix at a temperature just above 0K on the Kelvin scale.

In the same year, 2003, a person named Komatsu from Kyoto University made a derivative of fullerene having a tailored mouth that is able to catch hydrogen. This discovery might have some sort of safety applications in the future of hydrogen economy.

Compounds of uranium and noble gases were unintentionally synthesized by Lester Andrews and his research team from the University of Virginia in the year 2002. This discovery took place after they had stored the compound cupric oxide (CuO) at -270 degrees Celsius. When they changed to inert gases such as argon, krypton and xenon, which were having a greater atomic number, they found that the reaction had occurred and the compound’s nature had changed. This discovery was later confirmed by Bruce Bersten from Ohio State University.

Au55, which is a form of gold, was discovered by Hans Gerd-Boyen from the University of Ulm in Germany. This element, unlike normal gold cannot be corroded by ozone or atomic oxygen. It is also believed that Au55 can help as a catalyst in the production of CO2 from CO.
