Philosophy Of Metaphysics

Metaphysics is an important branch of philosophy. It investigates the realities of sciences. One of the key features of the philosophy of metaphysics is that reality is absolute.  Everything around us in the world, all that we see and do not see, are real.  Things have a specific nature and they are constant in their properties.

The different entities will react to each other according to their properties.  Their actions will be dependent upon their effects on each other. This is the philosophy of cause and effect.

Metaphysics also aims to find out the reason for existence, the reality of a god and the purpose of religion.   These are some of the topics it deals with.  There are more complex subjects which may give rise to controversy.  Some of them are the views metaphysics has on abstract objects and universals.  The philosophy behind this is that one cannot get hold of redness or squareness, which are the properties exhibited by objects.  However, one can get hold of the objects themselves. Abstract objects such as numbers are said to be inert and outside the boundaries of time and space.

The philosophy of metaphysics also helps explain the invisible like thoughts and the mind.  The invisible can be justified with its relation to the visible.  Metaphysicians may not disagree about an invisible god in relation to religion.  Rather they will try to sort out the arguments between religions themselves.

The philosophy of metaphysics can be better understood by learning about its various branches – ontology, theology and universal science.
