Philosophy uses several approaches towards understanding and solving problems. Idealism, nominalism, rationalism, empiricism, skepticism, pragmatism etc are all ways of thinking and reasoning involved in philosophy. Different philosophers take their own approach in addressing a problem. Philosopher has a great impact on society and people.

Political ideologies, religious convictions, cultural practices etc are greatly affected by philosophy. As a matter of fact, certain philosophies have led to revolutions which changed the face of the world. Sociology on the other hand is a science which uses empirical investigation and critical analysis to understand human social activity. Sociologists use the knowledge they have gleaned for the welfare of society at large. This is a vast field and involves study of a vast array of topics ranging from religion, social stratification in society, culture and language of societies and their influence on the people, criminality in a society, effect of economic status on humans, how human behavior is affected by gender and sexuality, health and illness and so on. Sociologists study social interactions and their effects on society through quantitative and qualitative analyses. The science of sociology has been in existence for centuries. Sociology and philosophy are inter related disciplines although there may be conflicts of ideas between the two classes of scientists. Sociology studies the impact of different philosophies on social interactions, human behavior and attitudes.

Philosophy on the other hand formulates solutions and tries to understand basics of human behavior and problems by studying human nature and suggesting different thoughts and inputs based on different principles. While philosophy is based on ideas, thoughts and principles, sociology is based on analytical and objective views on society. Both sciences are interrelated and inseparable entities.
